Sinohydro of China Hands over Bui Generating Station to Bui Power Authority, Ghana

The main Contractor for the Bui Hydroelectric Project, Sinohydro Corporation of China, has handed-over the Bui Generating Station (Bui GS) to the Bui Power Authority, in fulfillment of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC)/Turnkey agreement signed in April, 2007 for the construction of the Bui Dam.

The Vice General Manager of Sinohydro Bureau & Co. Ltd and also the first Project Executing Manager of Sinohydro for the Bui dam, Mr. Yang Yixing, presented a symbolic wooden key to the Chief Executive of the Bui Power Authority, Jabesh Amissah-Arthur, as a sign of transfering the Bui GS from Sinohydro to Bui Power Authority at the commissioning of the Bui Generating Station by the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

Also present at the function was former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, who cut the sod for the commencement of the project in August 2007.

Other dignitaries at the function included the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Gong Jianzhong, the Ghanaian Minister of Energy, Joseph Kofi-Buah, Board members of the Bui Power Authority and the Chiefs and people of the catchment area of the project.
